BURGER KING ADVERTISMENT ANALYSIS
Purpose
The purpose for burger
king to make an advertisement like this one is because they want to make people
aware of what’s going on. A lot of young kids from the age of 11-19 get bullied
and know body wants to do anything about it because they don’t want to get
involved or its because they are scared it could back fire at them. The
advertisement proves my statement when the majority of the customers saw the
bullying take place but they didn’t do anything. However, in the advertisement
of burger king they decided to prank some of the customers who didn’t help with
the bullying and they gave them beat up burgers. The beat up burgers connotes
to the kids that are getting bullied. The interesting thing is that all the
customers who got that damaged burger started to demand new food or refund.
This shows lack of humanity which people have towards each other and I think
that burger king made this advert to show other people this and show how
corrupt people are thinking.
Mode of address
When the narrator speaks the audience, it has a mixture of
humour and some bits are serious. The area where it was funny was when the
burger king worker started to break the burgers and it was ironic because when
the customers saw the kid getting bullied they didn’t say anything, however
when they found out that they got a mashed-up burger they started complaining,
and that’s where the mode of address changed because it turned from making the audience
serious about what’s going on and then the temperature cools down and they
start making jokes out of the customers which lightens the advert and makes
less boring.
Techniques used
One of the techniques
they use is at the beginning of the advert when they introduce four kids and
they show them speaking about their experiences and how they had to deal with
it without any help. They use cut in between the kids to show the individual
arguments and how many thought is going through their head and it shows how
stressed the kids are about it. Another technique used is when they use the
hypodermic needle theory and it is when the audience takes in information
straight away for example the burger king advertisement shows that bullying is
bad and should be stopped as soon as it happens. This makes the audience think
and process what happened, and it makes them act.
Messages and value in the advert
The message in this
advert is to show that bullying Is not okay, and everyone should be treated
equally. This is one of the slogans and it says “no bully".
TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience
for burger king will obviously be for all ages because food doesn’t have a age
restriction, so I think the target audience will be for everyone.
What type of advert?
In this food advert
there is many morals involved within the 3 minuets . The first moral displayed on
the advert is that bullying is not tolerated in any age group, because nobody
likes to be bullied. One way they display this is when they use four kids having
a conversation about how to be quite about being bullied.
The advert does give a
sort of awakening to the audience because it shows how kids have to put up with
bullies in front of grownups however they think they have no need to get
involved. Although its not only grownups it could be targeted by younger
viewers as well because kids can step up for other kids.
